COBINHOOD Exchange

COBINHOOD Exchange

2017-2019 full-time, include: illustration, multi-language, animation, social media materials.

The world's first cryptocurrency exchange with zero transaction fees, it raised over 45,000 Ethereum in funding and went live at the end of 2017. With a user base exceeding 500,000, it supports up to 18 languages, and notably, it has even served users in North Korea. Additionally, it holds the distinction of being the first exchange globally to receive the German Red Dot Design Award.

In September 2017, I joined as a Senior Designer, participating in the full-time capacity during the fundraising and launch of the cryptocurrency exchange. I was involved in the development and launch of the exchange until the closure of the company. Throughout this period, my responsibilities encompassed all visual and UI/UX design aspects of the exchange.

I created nearly 40 animations and static materials for advertisements and community content, over 30 promotional events, and designed over 200 pages for both the app and web platforms. Additionally, I contributed to backend development, participated in multilingual planning, provided design documentation to the team, established design system guidelines, and assisted in introducing early-stage research and data analysis to help position the company's products.

Goal

We're gearing up for a 40-day crowdfunding campaign. Prior to launching, we need to prepare various strategies for exposure, partnerships, and ad creatives to ensure the campaign's success. This funding is crucial for the company to kickstart our operations.

Our potential backers are global, including the US, Russia, South Korea, and Japan. Consequently, we'll need to localize our materials for different languages. The core messaging will emphasize our unique selling point: zero trading fee.

Result

At the time, I was the only one on the design team capable of creating motion graphics. I collaborated closely with the marketing and PR teams to produce an extensive array of advertising materials over a period of just over a month. This included nearly 20 motion video ads, over 30 HTML5 ad creatives, and more than 20 static image ads. I primarily used After Effects for the animations, while personally illustrating all the graphics and assets.

We expanded on our brand identity and experimented with various narrative approaches in our creative assets. Ultimately, the company successfully raised 45,000 ETH, equivalent to $100 million at current valuation.

Marketing Materials & Events

After the product launch, we rolled out multiple online and offline events to maintain user engagement and keep our site buzzing. We also leveraged several online campaigns to consistently acquire new users. During this period, I remained the sole designer responsible for all these initiatives. We executed nearly 20 online events, about 10 in-person events, and created over 100 social media posts.
